Ok, who remembers the song Pissing the Night Away by Chumbawamba? You remember, “I get knocked down, but I get up again. You are never going to keep me down.” This song lives rent-free in my head and plays on repeat whenever I feel like nothing is going my way. Like this last week, for example. I won’t go into details, but it was just one of those weeks. Sinus infection, a missed dinner with friends, and deadlines on top of deadlines because it was the last week of the month. But through it all, this song played in my head and kept me going.
Am I the only one with songs, mantras, or whatever you call on when you feel like life is punching them around?
I used to get knocked down and stay there for a really long time. My head was filled with all kinds of reasons why and none of them served me. But I flipped the script a few years ago (four, to be exact). I no longer measure my time by how many times I fall but rather by how long I stay down before getting back up. What a game-changer this new perspective has been.
Shoot me an email with any mantra, lyric, story, poem, or whatever helps you get back on the horse sooner. I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you want to change your perspective or get back up sooner than later and need a little help from a friend, book your free session, and let’s chat about it.
